November 2008 - View of South Jersey African-American Heritage

The Atlantic City Art Center, in conjunction with the African-American Heritage Museum of Southern New Jersey, Inc., presents a look at African-American Heritage. Featured exhibit is Gene Hudgins and the Yard – The saga of Pennsylvania Avenue School Yard and its impact on Atlantic City, southern New Jersey and the region. Gene Hudgins went from Atlantic City High School basketball stardom to college celebrity to professional basketball with the world famous Harlem Globe Trotters. Returning to Atlantic City, Hudgins made the Yard the incubator for scores of local and regional business, civic, political and educational leaders who played basketball at this local mecca and flourished under his mentorship.

Additionally for the month of November, Rod Robinson, Esq., a photographer of African landscapes will be on display along with Van Buren N. Payne, a painter who uses varied media.

The opening reception for this exhibit will be Friday, November 7, 2008 from 6-9PM.
